School sport
Sport plays an integral part at the University High School. At a co-curricular level, it is at the centre of the UHS Sub-School system with Coleman, Gulam, Johnston and Triggs competing against each other in annual swimming and athletics carnival events.
Following the school sport carnivals in Term 1, the interschool sports program provides opportunities for both participation and excellence at all levels of competition – local, regional and state. The School has had ongoing success with skilled performers in a wide range of sports where the program continues to thrive and improve each year.
The sports on offer at University High School across Terms 1 to 3 are:
Term 1
Cricket
Baseball
Softball
Tennis
Volleyball
Term 2
AFL
Badminton
Netball
Soccer
Term 3
Basketball

Hockey
Table Tennis
Sport coaching program
The aim of the sports program each year is to create greater opportunities for students to develop leadership, coaching and communication skills. Each year, over a hundred students take part in a coaching and managerial role for their junior peers in sporting teams on district and regional sporting days. Students help assist with running training sessions leading into competition, provide coaching advice to students and assist with team selection. Students are acknowledged at Sub-School assemblies throughout the year for their contribution to this program.
