Grade 6–Year 7 enrolment and transition

Victorian government school students can apply to University High School through their respective primary school. Non – government school students can apply directly to University High School.

To support families on transitioning from Year 6 to 7, the Department of Education has provided information on their website. You can access it here.

All parents are required to complete the Application for Year 7 Placement 2025 Form. This is distributed by all Victorian government primary schools, and some Victorian non-government schools as part of the 2025 Year 6 to 7 Transition Pack during the first week in Term Two, 2024.

First Week, Term Two, 2024
Submission of completed Application for Year 7 Placement 2025 Form

All parents are required to submit a completed Application for Year 7 Placement 2025 Form to their child’s primary school by no later than Friday 10th May, 2024.

Your application should list the current permanent residential address for yourself and your child. Any application received that lists an address other that your current permanent residential address (including a property you intend to move into) will be reviewed based on your permanent residential address at the time you submit your application. Please be aware University High School is currently experiencing a high level of demand for places and has been placed under an Enrolment Management Plan by the Department of Education. Places can only be offered to students in the first two categories of the Department’s Priority Order as per the Department’s Placement Policy. Please download our Enrolment Management Plan document at the bottom of this page for further details.

As stated above, if your child is in a non-government primary school and University High School is your first preference, please submit the completed Application for Year 7 Placement 2025 Form no later than close of business Friday 10th May, 2024. You may submit this form in person to the school, by post, or via email. If submitting this form electronically, please attention your email to the Enrolment Registrar for Year 7 2025 Enrolment. Notification of 2025 Year 7 Secondary School Placement

The primary school will notify parents/carers, in writing, on Wednesday 17th July of the 2025 Year 7 secondary school placement for their child. The primary school will also provide you with an Acceptance Slip with the secondary school 2025 offer. This slip needs to be completed and returned to the primary school as per their instructions.

If you would like to appeal the 2025 Year 7 secondary school placement offered to your child, please follow the steps outlined in the information pack attached to the application form. If you require support with your appeal, please contact your primary school. If your child is at a non-government primary school, you may contact your local Region Office instead. Any appeals need to be submitted to our school using the appeal form by close of business Friday, 26th July.

Please note: If your child is in a non-government primary school and your school is not supporting you through this process, you will be notified of your child’s placement by the school that is offering your child a place in 2025. If you applied directly to University High School and we are unable to offer your child a place, you will be contacted by the secondary school offering your child a place instead. Additional Documentation Request

University High School will email parent/carer(s) a provisional offer of placement by the close of business Thursday, 18th July 2024. This offer will include a request for documentation to verify the information you provided on your application form.

Please note: University High School will send all correspondence to the email address you provided on the Application for Year 7 Placement 2025 Form. Please ensure you print your email address clearly. If you do not receive correspondence from University High School by close of business Friday 19th July, 2024, please contact us directly as soon as possible.

Submission of Additional Documentation

Parent/carer(s) will need to submit the requested supporting documentation according to the instructions in the provisional offer by no later than Monday 29th July, 2024.

Families will be contacted via email by close of business Monday 26th August about the documentation they submitted to the school.

Welcome Pack

A welcome pack will be emailed by close of business Friday, 20th September, to families who have a confirmed placement offer for their child. The welcome pack will outline the transition process for the remainder of 2024 and start of 2025.
Further packs of information will be sent in Term 4.

Enrolment notice

Any applications received for students residing outside of Melbourne, or prior to moving into the permanent residential address listed on the application form, will be placed on hold.
